Bagpipes and Burns Night at Lister & Sherrington House
At Lister House and Sherrington House Nursing Homes, we believe that staying active and engaged is the key to a fulfilling life. Our weekly “Active Mind” sessions are a cornerstone of this commitment, and last Thursday, we took our residents on a trip to the Scottish Highlands!
To celebrate the legacy of Robert Burns, we were delighted to welcome a very special guest: the ‘Flying Scotsman.’ The halls were filled with the stirring sounds of traditional bagpipes, bringing smiles and sparking wonderful memories for our residents.
More Than Just Music This wasn’t just a performance; it was an immersive heritage experience. Through traditional dress, authentic music, and captivating storytelling, our residents explored the life of Scotland’s national bard and the history behind Burns Night.
Our Commitment to Person-Centred Care Events like these are a vital part of our person-centred activity program. By celebrating diverse cultures and historical milestones, we help our residents stay connected to the world and provide sensory stimulation that is essential for cognitive well-being.
The afternoon was a resounding success, with both residents and staff joining in the festivities. It was a beautiful reminder of how music and storytelling can bring a community together.
