Residents had an absolute blast today, gathering for the home’s annual Christmas Photo Day. The atmosphere was filled with infectious laughter and genuine smiles as residents embraced the festive theme, striking cheerful poses with the specially prepared ‘Festive Photo Frame’.

The event proved to be a wonderful opportunity for the community to connect and create lasting, joyful memories as the holiday season begins. The pictures captured perfectly reflect the warmth and companionship found every day at Aegis.

The holidays have officially arrived at Lister and Sherrington House! Yesterday, we were delighted to host a wonderful session of Traditional Christmas Carolling.

There’s nothing like classic festive tunes to bring everyone together! Both clients and staff had a heartwarming time, filling our homes with singing, tapping toes, and brilliant Christmas spirit.

Residents at Aegis Care Home Meet a Menagerie of ZooLab Friends!

We recently hosted a truly fantastic and curiosity-sparking visit from ZooLab right here at Aegis Residential Care Home in Pontefract! Our residents enjoyed an exciting and beneficial animal therapy session, getting the unique chance to touch, feel, hold, or stroke a fascinating selection of creatures.

An Exciting Menagerie of Friends

The session featured a truly interesting array of animals—including a tortoise, a snake, and even a tarantula! Each encounter brought genuine excitement and curiosity, and the residents were particularly amazed by the tortoise.

Boosting Wellbeing Through Animal Therapy

ZooLab provides ethical, hands-on animal encounters. Their sessions are a valuable tool for promoting mental well-being and are a recognised form of animal-assisted therapy used in occupational therapy. This visit certainly proved how the presence of animals helps bring people together, creating shared joy and conversation.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable time for both our residents and staff. At Aegis, we are always striving to try new things and welcome visitors to boost our residents’ mood and overall wellbeing.

School Children Share Bonfire Night Poetry with Care Home Residents

Residents at Lister & Sherrington House Nursing Homes recently enjoyed a truly heartwarming visit from students of St. Philip’s School, marking another successful chapter in the ongoing intergenerational linking project.

The students visited the Bradford care home to read a selection of delightful and imaginative poems they had written, all inspired by the excitement of Bonfire Night.

The event proved to be a fantastic moment of connection, filling the house with shared laughter and heartwarming smiles. Residents and students alike cherished the opportunity to interact.
